Programs designed to improve EBCI community quality of life

Public Health and Human Services

Welcome! We invite you to learn about the variety of programs within the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ Department of Public Health and Human Services. Our programs are designed to improve individual – and community – quality of life.

Many of our services are only for enrolled members of the EBCI and other federally recognized Indian tribes. Some programs operate within the child care and school systems and are open to all children. Others, such as Tsali Care Nursing Facility, are open to anyone in need.

Start by Believing

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen” – Brene Brown

The EBCI Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program are initiating the “Start by Believing” campaign to bring awareness and support to survivors of Sexual Assault. The goal is to change the culture of reporting….to let people know, they will be believed. We want to start with community members.

Start by Believing is a public awareness campaign designed to end the cycle of silence and change the way we respond to sexual assault. It was first launched in April 2011. Since then, thousands of people across the country and around the world have made their own personal commitments. To learn more, please visit: Start By Believing
